I want a sat nav , that has OS maps on it for countryside activities such as
walking cycling etc, and also does the street postcodes bit as well like
normal sat navs.

It has to have reasonable 5+ hours battery life - recharge in car, i dont
mind changing cards for switching from street level postcodes search over to
OS maps

What does the concensus of opinion say I should buy

Many thanks in anticipation

A PDA with Tom Tom and Memory Map installed. Thats what I do anyway,
and it works great.

I had a PDA (IPAQ 4150) with Tomtom, Quo and Anquet. I was happy with it.
Then it failed.

Can anyone recommend a replacement PDA? Im thinking of a mio 560. but it
uses windows mobile 6.

Is it possible to transfer Tomtom to a new PDA? I like Tomtom, but dont want
to fork out again (after 6 months) for another copy.

Hehehe, we had a little discussion in the Derbyshire Laning (I think)
thread, cos I used my unit to navigate us between lanes and along
lanes when we got there ... and only got mistaken once at the bottom of
a tree-lined, totally sky obscured valley/quarry.

Switching between TT and MM takes a short while but works well enough
for what we need.

Have a look on Darrens site www.PocketGPSWorld.com its the dogs
danglies for information and reviews.

As has been said, it would have to be a PDA with a decent street
navigation app and Memory-Map for the off road stuff.

There is the Road Angel Navigator which is a dedicated nav device that
also has OS mapping but it is not one I could recommend.

Interesting ... I wasnt aware of that unit. Looks nice, but it doesnt
seem to do in-car navigation (a la TomTom)?

The only weatherproof unit Ive seen that does that *and* OS mapping is
the Road Angel Adventurer (which comes with Memory Map and RAs own
road navigation app).

Cheers,
Daniel.
