Im on my 4th windscreen mount now. In each case, the twist lock
mechanism keeps breaking resulting in the suction cup seperating from
the rest of the mount. Has anyone else had this problem ?. I get the
inpression that in our case, repeated removal and refitting of the
mount to the screen, gradualy deteriorates the internal plastic bits.

Aside from the earlier issues with drooping I havent heard of any
problems with the mount failing such as you have experienced?

Maybe you need something sturdier such as Ram-Mounts solution?
