Hi,

This evening I tried updating my tomtomONE via Tomtom home, it was the
quickfix gps update, I let it do its thing. On the screen it said flashing
quickfix then it just hung like it had crashed on a white screen with a
hourglass and a message saying please wait, waited about an hour incase it
hadn;t and it was still there.

Have a mucked up my gps gizmo somehow ?

Any adivce on what to do. Spent 3 hours already this evening trying to fix
it.

Thanks

Good question :)

I have tried a hard reset, also holding it down for 30 seconds and no joy. I
have also taken the sd card out and re-inserted it no joy there either.

Thats the last time i go for an update, I needed to tomtom this today, thank
god for the old fashioned map I have :)

I email tomtom and no reply.

Appreciate an more info or things to try or which hammer smashes the tomtom
nicely :)

Is the device detected by the HOME app? Do you have a backup copy of the SD
card?

Hi Darren,

It is being detected by HOME. I have a backup but its a little out of date
and means I lose a fair feew of what Ive put on it. My fault for not having
kept up with updating it, too damn lazy!

Ive not touched it since last night, turned off untill advice sought on
here.

Are you thinking I should do a format and backup from what I have ? will
that work or will the flashing of the quickfix update have mucked something
up internally like when flashing the BIOS on a computer goes horribly wrong
or is it less sinister.

I await further help

Thanks

In the circumstances Id go for a restore from backup and see if this
resolves the issue. What is it youve added since the last backup?

Stack of address I currently visit, which I have written down so no a major
problem, just have to enter them all in I guess. I bought some voices as
well which were not backed up. I have some custome splash screens on there
no sleep lost if I dont get those back, thats all.

From what I have read on some sites inclusing pocketgps Im not the only one
suffering this, so I thought os a voodoo curse on me are unfounded. Any idea
why this is happening ?

This will make me think twice before performing and update. If it aint
broke then dont try to fix it is the saying I shall bear in mind.

I had your database on there as well for safety cams.

Ill give your idea a go and fingers crossed itll revive it.

Cheers

I suggest you get a new SD for any restore instead of restoring over the
newer data and so losing it all. Just because you sustained damage to
some system files to make the SD unbootable does not mean your voice and
data files (are your saved addresses in POIs?) can not still be retrieved.
