Ive had one for about 18 months. As a PDA it is no great deal, not too
fast or powerful, but pretty much does the job. Mine came with Destinator
software, which I have upgraded a couple of times and now use version 6.
According to what I have read version 6 not supposed to work on an N35, but
it runs on mine without any problem. The only thing I did notice when I
upgraded to 6 was that the GPS seemed to become more prone to complaining
about a weak signal when driving in urban areas. I added an external
antenna and that has solved the problem, although most of the time I use it
without that.

Destinator doesnt seem to get a great write-up when being compared to
others, usually TT, but I have found it easy to use and have had no
problems. I havent used other GPS software but one or two people who have
travelled with me have had others systems and seemed happy enough with what
they saw in Destinator. I have European and US maps and have used the
system extensively abroad, again without any problem.

I think I paid around Ł200 for mine, so at Ł99 it cant be a bad deal.

Also have N35 with TT6 and also use Memory Map (on a seperate SD card) for
walking - thats great by the way - expensive but vg. I too found the
addition of an antenna for TT6 improved the signal. I find the syncro with
Outlook Express to be extremely useful as I use both calendar and contacts
on my PC and need that information when travelling. The back up onto the SD
card is very useful. Even when the odd lock up occurs (like abroad with no
PC) its very quick to fully restore. I have seen the recent drop in prices -
advice is - go for it.

See my earlier post - I am running TomTom v 6 (TT6) on the N35 and it works
fine - better with a Ł10 or so antenna. I wasnt very impressed with
Destinator 3 (the package provided software) and started with TT5 upgrading
to TT6 once it became available. The only (very small) downside was in TT6 I
couldnt turn the display 90 degrees - see the TomTom 6 post above. Others
have expalined why and Im now about to uprate the OS to Window 2003 SE.

Thanks Mike , would you rate the acer with tomtom6 as a good choice at a
very reasonable sounding price of 109.99 inc vat at amazon ? which aerial
would you reccomend for Ł10.00 and does tomtom6 still work fast on the n35?
or does the processor /memory let the side down a bit ? should i buy a 512
or 1gb mem card for tomtom6 ?

Sorry for all the questions , basically im stuck between buying a tomtom
one v2 or a n35 + tomtom 6 and memory card , i like the idea of having a
duel purpose device , but also like the idea of just buying a tomtom one
pressing the on button and away i go.......plus the n35 seems to recieve
quite bad customer reviews due to poor / flimsy connectors............so i
am a tad dauted by the options..

I have no experience with other GPS/PDAs so am unable to compare - im sure
theres better - there are certainly more expensive ones. The N35 works for
me and TT6 (like I suspect most if not all nav software) has anomolies to it
but is the best I have used to date. TT6 (Uk & WE main roads) is on 512MB SD
card and has spare capacity but if you later wanted to add countries I
imagine a 1GB would make sense. The antenna are widely available on ebay. A
friend also has the N35 and he has had some problems with the connector
(mentioned elsewhere on this NG). But, the prob was with the male connector
and has been easily replaced (also off ebay). I have had mine for over a
year with thankfully no connector probs. I should perhaps add that if I
only wanted the sat nav I would prob go for something like TT1. With the N35
you do have to mess about with power leads. antenna cable and set up etc BUT
if you also want the other PDA functions its the price you pay !

Best of luck !

Mike
