A question please. I have purchased the new maps. I have also
purchased a 1 GB card, which has not yet been delivered.

Is it possible to download the maps to to the TomTom Home application
now, then transfer them to the device later, or do I need to have the
device connected?

If I delay the dowload for a few days will I find the transaction
cancelled?

Thanks
Scott

What have you got now?
Mine is a 512 which I got for the system update as the 128 would not take
the Post codes and version update V6.
But these new maps are on the 512 OK.

In uk.rec.gps, Scott belched forth and ejected the following:

Theyll already be in your TT application.

No. What I did was stick the new SD card in (TT Rider), connect it to PC
and started downloading maps.

Works great[1]

[1] When I say works great, I mean the download and install went ok, as
far as UK accuracy goes, I have found, in the little bit of the UK I
know, there are more errors than the previous NaqTeq version I used but
hey,ho, Im going abroad soon and need the extra WE version.

Doh!

I have kind of answered my own questions now.

There is an option to download first then transfer to the TomTom BUT
the TomTom needs to be connected for the process to work.

According to the site the download expires today (date of purchase).

For the above question, I bought the Western Europe map so 512 MB will
not be enough. I will need the new card.

The download is incredibly slow. 39% so far with 109 hours and 50
minutes left.

Tomtom has probably calculated an incorrect route over the Net for the
download or Teleatlas never managed to map the route into virgin.net
