I know its designed for road navigation, but as I happened to have my
TomTom Navigator 5 with me on a train journey I thought Id follow the
route.

Unfortunately I couldnt find a way to turn of snap-to-road so even though
the rail line was mapped it kept jumping to the nearest road. Is this
possible?

I think its a locked in feature, I was doing similar recently on a flight
from Paris to Manchester, around London way it was clocking 530mph and
warning of speed cameras :)
