I am a post graduate researcher at the University of Nottingham in the
UK. This questionnaire forms part of a wider study into driver
behaviour conducted by myself and my colleagues.

If you use any type of in-vehicle navigation system, I would appreciate
it if you could follow the link below and answer a short questionnaire
regarding navigation system user behaviour and preferences.

www.mrl.nott.ac.uk/~nlf

The questionnaire is very short (it should only take 5 to 10 minutes to
complete). Research in this area is only in its infancy, and there are
many gaps in the current literature, it is hoped this questionnaire
will be a start in filling some of these gaps.

Once the results have been analysed, I will provide a link from this
forum to a results summary so that interested participants may have a
look. Alternatively, please email me at nikatnott@yahoo.co.uk and I
will provide them to you by email.

Many thanks

Nick Forbes
Postgraduate researcher
University of Nottingham

No still doesnt work. Go to questionaire just brings up page unavailable.
It could be my firewall. I cant download pdfs either.

I filled in the questionnaire, but I cant help thinking that youve skewed
your results by asking in here for your sample. By its very nature, this
newsgroup is used by people who take their GPS/SatNav seriously. Youre
unlikely to attract to your survey the idiot drivers who end up trying to
get a coach over a humpback bridge, or a diesel Clio through a 3 ford, or
(my personal experience) a lady van driver going the wrong way up a one way
street 250 yards from where Im sitting now because she didnt bother to pay
attention to the no entry sign.

The last example is one I know well. The SatNav behaves like a wily driving
examiner who says Take the next available right turn to see if youre
paying attention to no-entry or no-right-turn signs. My i3 says turn right
but does so before the no entry. A glance at the map display shows that it
knows the road is no entry, is directing you to the correct right turn,
and assumes youll pay attention to the road signs.
