Using tomtom 5 pda version.
I need to avoid low bridges, is there an add on feature that lets me
navigate avoiding bridges of a certain height?

Im not just looking for pois I wanted an add on that tells you there is
a low bridge on route and gives you the option to avoid it, similar to
the toll charge prompt.

Not clever enough to answer your question.
I do tow a caravan and sometimes as I drive following the TT route I
encounter a road sign not suitable for caravans or in your case low bridge
ahead. These signs are before you get there so that you can follow an
alternative road. When that alternative road taken my TT recalculates from
that piont and I have no problems.

Thats great if you get a warning of a mile or so but it aint so easy
to turn an artic round when the only warning you get is the triangle on
the bridge!

Good question, btw because Id like to know about that, too AND avoid
bleedin residential streets!

Good piont, I will keep my eyes open on low bridges around here to see if
the only warning is too late.

Assuming you can find the POIs, cant you just format the file the same way
as you would for a redlight camera, and set the warning to the maximum it
will allow?

On the Garmin i3, the maximum distance you can be warned of POIs is 1KM
(3,280 feet - just under two-thirds of a mile) and you only get the warning
if you dont have a route plumbed in, or the POI lies on the route that you
do have plumbed in.
