Should know this, but its been a long tim since Iva had to do it.
Just done a cold reset of my Aximn X30H. TomTom is the version that
came on an SD card, migrated to a 512 card now. UK maps only.
Downloaded the 5.2.1 upgrade. The install routine asks where to put
it:

Main Memory
SD Card
BIS (Built In Storage)

As you insert the SD card into the clean Axim it installs some of the
program to Main Memory.

Where should I install the upgrade to please?

Bryan, the best option in your case would be to extract the .cab files from
the upgrade and replace the older ones on the SD card.

Then when you have to re-install in future it will install the latest
version.

Thanks Darren - But when I look at the contents of the upgrade file
(unzip the zipped exe file) it holds:

cp.txt
setup.apk
setup.exe
Tom Tom Update cid
tth.txt

No CAB file there. Thoughts?

Copy the files into a temporary folder and launch the setup.exe. Dont
progress past the accepting licence agreement dialogue. At this point you
will see a number of additional folders appear in the temporary folder you
created. The two .cab files you need arte in the pocketpc folder, ttn.cab
and tomtom.cab. Copy and paste these overwriting the older versions on the
SD card.

Once done you can run setup off the SD card to update your installation.

Darren. Seeing that this is niggling me a bit, Ill ask the question here as
opposed to the pocketgps forum.

I have installed the 5.21 upgrade and it works fine. BUT when my HP iPaq
2210 loses all its battery power, it reverts to v.5. I understand about the
reasons for copying and pasting the two files but to where exactly are they
pasted?

I run TT from a CF card which I remove from the PDA and use the slot in my
pc to update camera files etc. Do I drag and drop the two files into
removable drive e or should I open the drive and delve deeper? I have gone
as far as opening it and found the ttn cab file in the folder marked
2577. Theres no sign of the tom tom cab file. Is this file totally new?

Thanks in advance.

I dont have a version of TTN5 but all you need do is search for the two
.cab files I referenced on the SD card. Then overwrite these with the
versions extracted from the update.

ISTR they might live in the 2577 folder in the root of the SD card?

As I mentioned in my post, Darren, I can only find the ttn.cab file in 2577.
Theres no sign of the other file anywhere. Anyway, I have now cut and
pasted both files to 2577 and hope this doesnt knacker it up.
