Hi Group. I have a Tom Tom classic which I have had for some
4 years, it worked perfectly in my last car ( Toyota ) but
in my latest car ( Peugeot ) it is hopeless, even with an
external antenna I an lucky to get 2 sats on the screen, I
understand this is due to the strange windscreen that
Peugeot fit.The inbuilt Sat Nav supplied with the car, is
about as much use as a handbrake on a canoe. I have been
told that the Tom Tom 900 works with these windscreens,
without the need for an external antenna, Could anyone
confirm this for me. Thank you.

Bryan ( Winchester UK )

If your equipment was working properly then you should have no trouble
using a TomTom GO (aka Classic) along with an external antenna.

My Tom Tom does work perfectly in another car, but not in my
Peugeot even with an external antenna. However the question
I asked was does the new Tom Tom 900 work with the Peugeot
windscreen

Do you mean the new 910? In which case, from what I read here, all the new
x10 units are meant to be OK with these type of windscreens.

Rather than spending more money id reccomend you investigate why youre
external antenna isnt working as that is the problem here. With an
external antenna you ought to see 8+ satellites on your Classic.

For goodness sake, cant you see you are depriving a guy of a good reason
(ok a reason) to buy a new gadget?

:-)

LOL you know a few years ago Id have agreed by lately I find myself
surrounded by the latest and greatest gadgets but still end up using the old
faithfuls. Aside from Text To Speech, the 910 adds little new that a 700
cant already do, and as the OP has the external antenna it seems a waste
not to utilise it!

And if anyone has any great solutions to organising wall wart chargers and
12v leads Im open to ideas, Ive got boxes of the ruddy things and can
never find the ones I need when I needem!
