What Id like to do is carry my PocketPC GPS around with me and
have it log my position every few seconds. When I have finished
my wanderings I want to be able to take the log file (as a lat/long
list?) and either superimpose it onto a map image at a known scale
or print out a diagram of the path I took.

Does anyone know of any packages (pref. free!) that would do this?

cheers
Pete

You could try looking at www.gpsu.co.uk. Youd need to scan in your own
maps. Alternatively you could use gpsu to output a kmz file and view it
on Google Earth.

Other than that, youd need to try something like Anquet - you can get a
whole range of map scales depending on how much youre prepared to pay.
